2015-2016 Give Back Initiative

TJ ChapmanWe want to thank the DG Warriors family for your support and the opportunity it has provided "TJ" to attend Andrews Osborne Academy during the 2015-16 school year.

TJ attended Whitney Young Middle School prior to attending Andrews Osborne Academy. While there, he earned an academic scholarship opportunity to attend Ohio State through a program he completed. His middle school coach, Rhonda Scharf, has been a major influence on his life. She has taught and coached in the Cleveland public school system for many years and has two children at AOA. She encouraged TJ to attend AOA's summer basketball camp in 2015, where he met the coach and AOA students. He immediately impressed everyone he met. When he indicated a desire to attend AOA, it was clear that his character and work ethic would be a huge asset in the classroom and on the basketball team.

TJ loves to write as a hobby and in the first quarter he earned a 3.6 GPA at AOA, which includes one Honors course. His goal is to earn a Division 1 basketball scholarship. TJ is truly blessed and thankful to have the support of so many, including the DG Warriors family, in his efforts to make an impact in his community and on the court.

2015 Give Back Initiative

West Side Basketball Assistant Director, Princess Freeman, coached our 4th grade girls AAU basketball team. Early in practice in mid-April, everyone in the gym heard a loud pop as Princess demonstrated a skill. It was as if a rubber band had snapped. Coach Princess fell to the ground in pain – she had ruptured her Achilles tendon. Princess had surgery soon after and then came to tournament games in a wheelchair.

Princess is the proprietor of a woman's clothing store in Ohio City. Facing months of painful rehab and recovery while managing four young children and the store, many Warriors families donated money to help the Freeman family through this challenging season in their lives.

2014 Give Back Initiative

A Warriors single mom of twin boys struggling to make ends meet fell months behind on her mortgage. Many Warriors families came to her aid with financial help.

2013 Give Back Initiative

A Warriors single mom bought a $3000 car a few months ago. It died last week and needs to be junked. In a little over 24 hours our WARRIORS FAMILIES donated over $2500 which DG will match to buy the family a new car.

The family in need and the DG WARRIORS staff thank you, our WARRIORS FAMILY, for your kindness and generosity!
